Welcome to the website of Agnus Dei, Villa Julie's Catholic Club on Campus. We are an independent student organization looking to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ on this campus through the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Our club is open to people of all denominations and faiths. Please come and learn more about Jesus and His Church! Agnus Dei is Latin for "Lamb of God." This is taken from John 1:36, where upon seeing Jesus, John the Baptist exclaims "Ecce Agnus Dei!" Or "Behold the Lamb of God!" Jesus was the Lamb of God. Being as He was the son of God and was sinless He was an unblemished Lamb. Jewish Passover laws required that an unblemished lamb be sacrificed. Jesus is the unblemished lamb who was sacrificed for our sins on the cross. Through His death on the cross He was the ultimate sacrifice for the world. Through His life, death and resurrection we are no longer held captive by the Levitical Law of the Old Testament covenant. But we are now true children of God (Rom 8:16, 1 John 3:2) through Jesus Christ and partakers in His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4)! Lamb of God is one of the many titles of Jesus and we choose to name our club after this title because here we remember that Jesus is the unblemished Passover Lamb of Sacrifice! So, in the words of John the Baptist, "Ecce Agnus Dei!" |

Meetings for the Fall 2004 will be on every other Tuesday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm in room SU221. All meetings will open in prayer (which can include worship, spontaneous prayer and liturgical prayer) and will then be followed by announcements. We will follow with a short teaching, which can include the readings of the day, saint of the day or church history or doctrine. This will be followed by our main activity. The activity will change weekly and will typically be a presentation by a member or a bible study, we will also try to get guest speakers. |

The mission of this organization is to help the Catholic members to grow deeper in their Catholic Christian faith. We hope to help non-Catholic Christians grow deeper in their own Christian faith; in addition, we hope to help them better understand the Catholic Church and eliminate incorrect stereotypes they may hold. We will spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ on campus through the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. This organization will put a strong focus on prayer and liturgy as well as Bible study, Church history, worship and community service. |
